Jonathan & Andrea Pyle

Pastor

The Lord brought Pastor Jonathan Pyle to West Valley Baptist Church in September 2018. Pastor Pyle and his family formerly served on staff at Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK. Prior to that, Pastor Pyle pastored Air Base Road Baptist Church in Alexandria, LA. He graduated from Heartland Baptist Bible College in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Theology. Jonathan married Andrea in 2001, and they have eight children, Alexandra, Ashlyn, Jason, Jadon, Addison, Justin, Jaxon, and Jaren. West Valley Baptist is blessed and thankful to be led by caring shepherd who faithfully preaches the Word of God.

Adam Slagel

Associate Pastor

Adam Slagel was born and raised in Meridian, Idaho, and has spent his life in the Treasure Valley. As a young boy, he began attending church with his grandma, who shared the gospel with him. It was through her faithful influence that Adam trusted Christ as his Savior.

As a teenager, Adam sensed the Lord’s call to ministry and prayed that others would see God’s hand on his life before fully pursuing that call. He graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree from TVBCBI.

Adam has served in many areas of ministry, including the bus ministry, Sunday school, nursing home services, and as a deacon. He now serves as Associate Pastor and leads the Adult Sunday School ministry at West Valley Baptist Church.

Adam and his wife, Rebecca, were married in 2012 and have two children, Quinn and Ellie. As a family, they enjoy spending time together and traveling whenever they have the opportunity.

Nate Engberg

Music Director

Nate Engberg was born in Nampa, Idaho, and grew up in Lafayette, Oregon. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 13 while serving at a Christian youth camp, where the Lord made it clear he needed a real relationship with Him.

After high school, Nate served as a church intern and later as youth pastor at his home church. He graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Composition.

Following their marriage, Nate and his wife, Danielle, moved to Idaho and began serving at West Valley Baptist Church. Nate became the Music Leader in April 2020 and currently oversees the congregational singing and special music ministries. In addition to music, Nate and Danielle enjoy helping with the Singles Connect Class.

The Engbergs love spending time together outdoors, especially hiking and camping, and enjoy hosting friends in their home. They are thankful for the opportunities God has given them to serve Him and invest in others.

Fiaavae Fiaavae

Assistant Pastor/Singles Ministry

Fiaavae Fiaavae was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in Northern California. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 15 during a youth conference in 2005.

While in high school, the Lord began stirring his heart for missions. He enrolled at Golden State Baptist College with the intent to stay for one year, but during that time, God used the preaching, teaching, and influence of godly people to call him into full-time ministry. In 2009, during a missions conference, Fiaavae surrendered to serve wherever the Lord would send him, specifically yielding to God’s call to the mission field of Samoa.

After graduating with a degree in Pastoral Theology, Fiaavae joined the staff at West Valley Baptist Church in June 2015. Over the years, he has served in several roles, including Bus Captain, Youth Director, and College and Career Director.

Fiaavae currently leads the Career Class and assists with various ministries in the church. He and his wife, Rothana, have one son, Setefano.

The Fiaavae family enjoys having people over for fellowship, snowboarding, hiking, traveling to new places, and spending time together. Fiaavae is also thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord both at church and through his work as a plumber.

Keri Tinsley

Administrative Assistant

Keri Tinsley was raised in Marsing, Idaho, and accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 7.

She earned a Multidisciplinary Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has enjoyed using her experience and skills to serve in ministry.

Keri serves as the Administrative Assistant at West Valley Baptist Church, overseeing the daily operations of the church office and providing personal assistance to Pastor Pyle. She is also involved in the Beginners Church ministry, where she enjoys helping teach young children about the Lord.

Keri and her husband, Max, met in Boise and were married in May of 2000. They have two daughters, Alexandria and Charli. As a family, the Tinsleys love sports and traveling together.

Robby & Marcella Wickland

Youth Director & Financial Secretary

Robby Wickland was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, before moving to Middleton in third grade, where he enjoyed small-town country living.

Though he made a profession of faith at the age of five, he struggled with assurance of his salvation throughout his teenage years. While attending Bible college, he heard a message that he knew God had prepared specifically for him, and on September 11, 2005, he accepted Christ as his Savior.

Robby has always had a heart for teenagers and a desire to invest in their lives. He attended Heartland Baptist Bible College for youth ministries and began serving in the youth group at West Valley Baptist Church in March 2019. Over the years, he has also served as an usher, trustee, and a member of the safety team.

Robby now serves as the Youth Director, teaching Sunday school each week, planning monthly youth activities, and organizing the church’s annual youth rally. His wife, Marcella, plays an integral role in the youth ministry, and together they love serving the next generation. They have four children—Harper Mae, Robby, August, and Emery.

As a family, the Wicklands enjoy camping, boating, and spending time outdoors.

Marcella Wickland was born in Portland, Oregon, but considers Idaho home, having graduated from high school in Boise. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 14 after hearing the gospel for the first time at a local teen camp the summer before high school.

Marcella earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon University. She has always had a heart for ministering to young ladies and has served as a youth camp counselor and now as a youth leader at West Valley Baptist Church.

Marcella joined the staff at West Valley as the Financial Secretary and oversees the organization of the church finances while also supporting her husband, Robby, in his role as Youth Director.

Marcella and Robby have four children—Harper Mae, Little Robby, August, and Emery—and they enjoy serving together as a family in the youth ministry. In her free time, Marcella enjoys running, drinking coffee, and homeschooling her children.
